Alethea Robbins: The Veil

October 2-November 1

This exhibition presents a new installation from Alethea Robbins exploring themes of life, death, and continuity through layered photographic works. Large transparent images are suspended from the ceiling that align into a single composition from the front; from the side, each work becomes visible on its own. This shifting experience invites viewers to move through the space and engage with the installation from multiple perspectives.

These images combine calm, eerie time-lapse photographs of the artist’s body with still-life compositions inspired by testimonies of near-death experiences gathered through late-night online video viewing. Together, they reflect the artist’s interest in the idea of the veil often referenced between this life and the next.

The combination of scale, transparency, and sequencing encourages viewers to move slowly, notice the shifting relationships between images, and reflect on the space between them. Through this installation, the artist creates a contemplative setting that bridges the personal and the universal.
