Member Artist Raises Over $2k for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project
Artist Lin-Lin Mao Mollitor has so far raised more than $2,000 through her artwork sales for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, a non-profit organization in Washington state that defends and advances the rights of immigrants through advocacy, legal services, and community education.
“We are so grateful for the way in which our community is coming together to support our work and our clients.”
— Aarti Khanna, Development Director of NWIRP
Mao Mollitor’s complete sculpture, I Pledge Allegiance, was originally exhibited in Looking Back at ‘65, the artist’s solo show at Gallery 110 in July 2025.
Individual stems of wildflowers made with wire and glass beads formed a child holding an American flag. Each stem of wildflowers (and the flag!) was designed to be sold individually, and all proceeds from these sales were donated to NWIRP after the exhibit.
Malou Chavez, the Executive Director of NWIRP, was the special guest at the artist’s reception and gave an informative talk at this well-attended event. After the most recent donation, she followed up with a note:
“In this era of uncertainty, your support is not just appreciated – it is vitally needed. With all three branches of government now controlled by forces hostile to the very nature of our mission, we are facing unprecedented challenges…Your contribution directly helps us fight back against these injustices, and strengthens our ability to challenge harmful policies inside and outside courtrooms.”
The artist, once an illegal immigrant herself, is grateful for the support of Gallery 110’s community and everyone who purchased a stem of wildflowers both during the exhibition and in the months following. Only one wildflower stem is currently still available at Gallery 110 from this first grouping, although given their success, Mao Mollitor intends to supply us with more stems in the future with all proceeds from their sale continuing to be donated to NWIRP!
I Pledge Allegiance will be on display with newly created stems from April 1 through June 30, 2026 at The Friendly Gallery at University Friends Meeting in Seattle, with proceeds from sales again donated to NWIRP.
